  1. Our Parish Prayer Group will have a Eucharistic Adoration Healing on Tuesday, 18th July 18, from 7 till 8.15 pm, in the Church. It will be conducted by C. C. R. Bombay Service Team member. You are encouraged to attend and also invite family members and friends.

  2. All are reminded of the ‘Parents Day Show 2017’ next Sunday 23rd July, after the 6.30 p.m. mass in the School Hall organized by our Parish Youth Group in Games Show style. Please obtain Entry coupons in advance from your community or from the parish office during working hours this week.

3..The Parents versus Youth volleyball match and badminton tournament will be on Sunday 30th July. You are invited to participate or watch.

  1. Sunday 6th August will be celebrated as Vianney Day. Please extend active cooperation to the Parish Council and Community animators who are organizing the felicitation program for our priests.

  1. Our Parish Pastoral Council will meet on Monday 3rd July, after the evening mass in the parlour. All members are expected to attend.

  2. On 7th July, First Friday, there will a Holy Half hour in Konkani after the 5.30 p.m. mass, and a Holy Hour in English after6.30 p.m. mass.

  3. Copies of the July issue of the Holy Name Record are placed at the Church doors. Please collect one copy per family.

  4. Our Parish ‘Parents Day Show 2017’ will be held on Sunday 23rd July, after the 6.30 p.m. mass. All parents of the Parish are invited, and tickets will be available with parish office and community leaders by next week.

  5. The next JESUS ENCOUNTER HEALING RETREAT organized by the Charismatic Prayer Group will be from Friday 7th July 7:30am to Sunday 9th July 4:30pm at Vinalaya Retreat Center Andheri (E) Mumbai. Those interested please contact our Parish prayer group leader/core team.

  1. Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi,
  2. Steering Committee meeting on 18th June, at 11am at the Holy Name School Conference Room on the 1st floor. [n.b. please don’t announce – Sunday evening]
  3. Sunday school, and first Holy Communion classes will start from Sunday June 18th after the 8:30 am Mass. Parents are reminded of their responsibility to bring their children to Sunday School. [n.b. please don’t announce at 10 am Mass & Sunday evening]
  4. Confirmation classes will start from Sunday 18th June after the 8:30 am mass in the first floor conference room. All those who have appeared for their SSC exams or who are over 16 years old are eligible. Candidates should bring a copy of their baptism certificate to the class. [n.b. please don’t announce at 10 am Mass & Sunday evening]
  5. The Extra Ordinary Ministers of the Eucharistic will renew their commitment to carry Christ to the sick and house bound. This service will be a part of the 10 am service on Sunday 18th June which is the feast of Corpus Christi. We request all Eucharistic Ministers to be present for an hour of Prayer and reflection on Saturday 17th June at 7:30 pm. [n.b. please don’t announce at 10 am Mass & Sunday evening]
  6. We would like parishioners to volunteer to teach the faith at Sunday School and Confirmation. Those interested should get in touch with Fr. Nigel.
  7. The Cathedral Choir has reassembled after its May vacation and welcomes new members. You need not have any knowledge of music or prior exposure to choral singing. All that is required is the ability to sing in tune. Please do contact Mario Nazareth or any of the choir members. We look forward to singing with you for the glory of the Lord.

The next issue of the Holy Name Record is scheduled for the first week of July 2017, Our Parish Bulletin can be self-financed rather than dependant on the Community Fund if we have more advertisers and donors.   1. Today is the feast of Pentecost, the birth of the Church. There will be a Pentecost rally at St. Michael’s Church Mahim today, Sunday 4th June from 4 pm to 8 pm. All are invited to attend and participate all.

  2. Senior Citizens meeting will be on 4th June, after the 10 a.m. Mass in the Holy Name School Hall. [n.b. please don’t announce – Sunday evening]

  3. Next Sunday is Trinity Sunday. We are reminded of our obligation to live out our communitarian spirituality.

1.Today is the feast of the Ascension and is also celebrated as World Communication Day in the Universal Church. We are invited by Pope Francis to “Communicate Hope and Trust in our Times”

  1. This Sunday there is a Basic Life Support and First Aid session in the school hall after the 9:00 am mass. This program will be a mix of a talk, demo and a power point presentation. This is open to all.

  2. There is will be a special modern dance and demo workshop entitled “Morden Dance with Sumit”. This will be on Sunday 28th May at 11:30 am in the School hall.

  3. The Novena to the Holy Spirit is prayed after communion at every mass. Next Sunday is the feast of Pentecost, the birth of the Church. There will be a Pentecost rally at St. Michael’s Church Mahim on Sunday 4th June from 4 pm to 8 pm. All are invited to attend and participate.

  6. The current Mass timings will remain the same till Sat 3rd June. We will revert back to the previous schedule from Sunday 4th June. So from Sunday 4th June we will have the 8.30 am mass and the 10 am mass. On week days from Monday 4th June, the daily morning mass will be at 6.30 am and 7.30 am.

  7. Admissions are open at St Andrew’s College, Bandra to Junior College – (Std X1 ) and Senior College ( First Year Degree ) Details are on the notice board.

  8. Worldwide Marriage Encounter invites all couples to a 2-day Week-end experience that will give them an opportunity to focus on their relationship with each other, God and Family. This program will be held at Sarvodhya Goregaon Seminary Compound on Sat 3rd June n Sun 4thJune. See the poster for details.

  9. Fr. Navin Mendonca who was serving in the Cathedral of the Holy Name as an assistant has been transferred to be in residence at St. Josephs, RC Church Colaba. We thank him for all that he has done in his pastoral ministry at the Cathedral and wish him all the very best as he takes up his new appointment.

1) Tomorrow/Today, 21st May, at 11 am, the Youth of the parish have organized Telegames in the Holy Name School Compound. This is an event of Fun for the Family – and all are welcome.

2) Tomorrow/Today, 21st May, at 10 am, the free Dance Demo and DIY for children titled Dance with Dorothy will be held in the Holy Name School Hall. There are limited registrations, so enroll before 9:00 am on Sunday.

3) Next Sunday 28th May we have a Basic Life Support and First Aid session in the school hall after the 9:00 am mass. This program will be a mix of a talk, demo and a power point presentation. This is open to all.

1) All are reminded of a change in the morning mass timings during the month of May: On Sundays, the 8.30 and 10 am masses will be suspended. Their intentions are transferred to one combined mass at 9 am. On weekdays, one morning mass at 7 am will combine intentions of the suspended 6.30 and 7.30 am masses. All other morning afternoon and evening mass timings continue as per the usual schedule. See the Notice Board.

2) Only to be announced on Sat 13th May "There will be a Special Rosary recited with Candle light after the 6.30pm evening Mass today being the Centenary Year of Our Lady’s appearance at Fatima in Portugal at the Grotto of Our Lady of Fatima. Please come to pray the Rosary."

3) Tomorrow/Today, 14th May, the free Art and Craft Workshop for children aged 5-12 yrs. will be conducted by Mrs. Vanessa Ryan in the School hall after the 9 am mass.

6) Fr. Harry Vaz the Rector is on leave in his absence Fr. Nigel Barrett will be the acting rector.

7) Since the office staff is on leave, we will be able to only handle mass bookings in the mornings; the issuing of all certificates and other office related matters would be looked into only in the evenings from 5 to 7 pm. We regret the inconvenience and do hope you will cooperate with us.

Mrs. Prima D’Souza’s Make for Mommy greeting card workshop 5-9 years olds session. Registrations are full to capacity. No new registrations are possible.

  1. On the Feast of Divine Mercy, we pray that God’s compassionate love and forgiveness fill our hearts and lives.
  2. The Care-givers Group will meet on Monday 24th April, after the evening Mass in the Parlour.
  3. From 7th to 28th May the Sunday Morning Mass Timings will follow the Holiday Schedule with one mass reduced: A mass 9.00 a.m. will replace the usual 8.30 a.m. & 10.00 a.m. masses. The Sunday evening and weekday mass timings remain unchanged
  4. All are reminded of our parish Summer-holiday Film Club with quizzes, Housie, a Book Library and some Sunday morning special programs. These will enable families to have quality fun-time together. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. Those who wish to donate old novels and other books of interest for the holiday library please bring them to the school from 26-30th April and hand them to Christabelle.
  5. A parish life-passion dream project competition will be launched in June-July 2017. Its noble objective is to incentivize and support youth over 18 in particular and all who are young in spirit to develop their God given talents and life passion in a planned achievable manner. Those interested please use the holiday season to envision and draft your plan.
  6. A Youth Night Vigil will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Vile Parle on 6th May, from 10.30 p.m. and conclude with a Mass at 5.00 a.m.
  7. The Focolare Movement will hold its Mariapolis summer holiday program for families from 25th to 28th May at the Papal Seminary in Pune. Please see the Notice Board for further details.

  1. His Eminence, the Cardinal, the Rector and all the priest of our parish and the Archdiocesan Curia and Offices wish all our parishioners and visitors a very Happy Feast of Easter. May the Risen Lord’s blessings of Joy Peace and Love fill your homes and your lives at all times.
  2. The Easter Community Mass scheduled dates, timings and place of celebration will be communicated by your Community leaders. Please co-operate with them by participating and sharing Easter joy.
  3. Next Sunday 23rd April, is the Feast of Divine Mercy.
  4. A Summer-holiday Film Club with quizzes, Housie, a Book Library and some Sunday morning special programs are being organized at the initiative of members of the Parish Council. All are welcome and encouraged to have holiday season family fun-time together.
  5. A life passion dream project competition to incentivize and support youth over 18 in particular and all who are young in spirit is being launched as a parish initiative in June 2017 to May 2018. The first substantial donation will be made Community Welfare Fund. In June we will furnish further detains and initiate a wider donation drive.

  1. [N.B. Saturday evening and Sun 6.30 and 7.30 masses only] Cardinal Oswald Gracias will bless Palms in the Oratory tomorrow/today after the 7.30 am Konkani mass. He will celebrate the 8.30 am mass in the Cathedral after the Palm Sunday procession.
  2. The April meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council will be on Monday the 10th, after the evening mass. All members are reminded to attend.
  3. Parishioners who have not yet collected their family copy of the Holy Name Record please do so after mass today. Please note the schedule of the Holy Week services is on an enclosed printed sheet as well as on the large banners in the Church compound.
  4. On Good Friday, there will be the usual Konkani service at 5 pm in the Cathedral. In the printed schedule, this detail was omitted due to a composition error.

  2. On Tuesday 28th March, all who registered for the Lenten pilgrimage by a 50 seater bus to the Rosary Garden in Khandala please assemble at the Cathedral gate at 6.30a.m for departure. A few seats are available on a first come basis. If interested, please write your name and contact number on a list in the sacristy immediately after mass.
  3. The special Lenten Alms collection in all parishes will go towards the Seminary training of future Priests. Please collect an envelope and drop your enclosed generous contribution into the appropriate box.
  4.   1. [Saturday evening & Sunday morning masses only] The SCCs Steering Committee will meet tomorrow/today 19th March, at 11.00 am. in the Holy Name School Conference Room, 1st Floor. All members are requested to attend.
  2. A Way of the Cross in Konkani will follow immediately after the 5 pm Konkani mass on all Sundays of Lent.
  3. The Caregivers Support Group will meet on Monday 20th March, after the 6.30 pm Mass in the Parlour. Parish Eucharistic Ministers are urged to come too as they extend spiritual care to the sick and homebound.
  4. You are reminded of the All Mumbai Walking Pilgrimage on Saturday 25th March 2017, starting from Cross Maidan, at 10.30 pm flagged off by the Cardinal as announced last Sunday. Details on the notice board.
  5. The Parish Lenten bus pilgrimage will be on Tuesday 28th March to a diocesan mission station. It could involve an overnight stay in Mahad or be a day one. Those interested please register with the community animators or the parish clerk office latest by this Wednesday 22nd March 7 pm. Also indicate your preference for a single day or overnight option.
  6. We thank all who have supported our effort to make the composition and printing of the Holy Name Record self-financed. The next issue is soon due. We welcome Advertisers and Donors to do the needful by Monday 20th March.

  2. The Caregivers Support Group will be meeting on Monday 20th March, after the evening Mass in the Parlour. We urge the Eucharistic Ministers of our Parish to come as well, since in effect they too are Caregivers, as they reach out to the sick and homebound.

All Mumbai Walking Pilgrimage will be on Saturday 25th March 2017, starting from Cross Maidan, Dhobi Talao at 10.30 pm. and terminating at Mount Mary’s Basilica, Bandra, with the Hoy Sacrifice of the Mass. His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias will flag off the Pilgrimage, and Bishop Bosco Penha will celebrate the Holy Eucharist. All are welcome to participate.
  5. Please note there will be Way of the Cross in Konkani every Sunday after the evening mass.

  1. You are reminded of the Bible Quiz Competition anchored by Fr Nigel Barrett in the Holy Name School Hall after mass this evening. Please attend to encourage our youth and other competitors.
  2. Please note, Altar Servers meeting will be on Tuesday 28th Feb’17, at 5.00 pm.
  3. On 1st March, Ash Wednesday, Ashes will be blessed at the first morning mass and imposed after all masses. The Konkani mass will be at 5.30 pm as usual. Cardinal Oswald Gracias will celebrate the 6.30 pm mass. All are reminded that Ash Wednesday is a day of obligatory Fasting and Abstinence.
  4. On 3rd March, please note there will be NO usual First Friday Holy hour in Konkani and in English. Instead, there will be the Stations of the Cross, after the 1.15, 5.30 & 6.30 pm. Masses.
  5. The St. Padre Pio’s mass will be on Saturday 4th March’17, at 4.00 pm. in the Holy Name School Conference Room on the 1st Floor.
  6. The Senior Citizen’s will meet on 5th Feb’17, after the 10 am. Mass in the Holy Name School Hall.
  7. The Annual Lenten Walking Pilgrimage organized by the Legionaries on Saturday 5th March, will start at 8.30 pm from St Francis Xavier’s Church, Dabul, and end with mass at Holy Name Cathedral. All are welcome to participate.
  8. The Parish Pastoral Council will hold its monthly meeting next Monday, 6th March, after the evening Mass. All members are reminded to attend.

Harry Vaz and Melroy Fernandes tomorrow/today 19th Feb at 11 a.m. in the Holy Name School 1st Floor Conference Room. 2.Prayer for SSC students of four Catholic schools in our parish will be held at a mass on Wednesday 22nd Feb at 9 am in the Cathedral. 3.No altar servers meeting on Thursday 23rd Feb. 4.In the Cathedral, on 24 Feb, a bank holiday, there will be a special mass and blessing for the sick and elderly who can be brought by volunteers. Community animators please give the list of names to the parish office. 5.Next Sunday is Bible Sunday. Fr Nigel Barrett will conduct a Parish Bible Quiz competition on Saturday 25th after the 6.30 pm mass. Competing community teams please register by Monday 20th Feb.

  1. [Only Saturday evening mass] Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Families with children are encouraged to attend a Rosary at the grotto after the 6.30 p.m. evening Mass followed by a boiled gram treat.
  2. Copies of the February issue of the Holy Name Record are placed at the Church doors. Please collect one copy per family after masses this weekend.
  3. Altar Servers will visit “Traffic Children’s Park”, opposite Campion School on Thursday 16th February, at 10 a.m. Altar servers will assemble at the entrance gate of the park at 9.30 am. No altar servers meeting in the evening.
  4. Members of all groups and associations associated with our parish liturgical services such as the P.L.T. Lectors, E.O.M.s, Choirs etc are reminded of the recollection cum instruction program on Sunday 19th Feb from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Please contact your respective leaders.
