  1. As we observe ‘World Day of the Poor’ this Sunday, families are urged to participate in our Archdiocese’s project called ACTS (Actively Called to Serve). Please pick up a donation bag from the sacristy or parish office, read the check-list, fill the bag accordingly and drop it back in the office during this week. The contents will be distributed to less fortunate families.

  2. All Altar Servers will meet this Thursday at 5.00 p.m

  3. Also this Thursday, 23rd November, we have the second session of “Theology from the Pews”. on a deeper and fuller understanding of the Catholic celebration of the Mass on Sundays and the Liturgical Year. Please use this opportunity to grow in the knowledge and practices of faith.

  4. Next Sunday, 26th November is the Feast of Christ the King, the community-wise adoration hours will begin after the 10 am mass. Please refer to the Notice Board for the schedule. The usual procession will commence immediately after the Konkani mass and return to the Cathedral in time for the 6.30 evening mass which will be celebrated by Cardinal Oswald Gracias.

  5. Parishioners are reminded of the 5 course formal dinner on Sunday 2nd December in the Holy Name quadrangle to be cooked and served by the priests of our parish and Archdiocese offices. After Monday 20th November, as already announced, the few remaining seats will be made available also to non- parishioners. Hence, please obtain entry passes in good time.

  6. The Parish Christmas Carol Nite this year will be on 15th Dec after the 6.30 pm mass. PPC members representing communities interested in participating please register in the parish office by Saturday 25th November. Our Youth will put up a play on the same day.

  7. The next issue of the Holy Name Record is scheduled for the first week of December 2017. Interested advertisers and donors, please contact the parish office by Saturday25th November.

  1. The Holy Father has declared 19th November as ‘World Day of the Poor’. Our Archdiocese is launching a project called ACTS (Actively Called to Serve). It’s time to love not with words but with deeds. You can participate by picking up a donation bag from the parish office. Please follow the instructions and fill the bag with a little love and care and drop it back in the office.

  2. On Thursday 23rd November, our parish will have its second session of the “Theology from the Pews”. Fr Melroy Fernandes will be the speaker. The topic will be “Is Sunday Mass, an obligation or necessity? It will help us to understand, appreciate and participate more deeply and fully in our Sunday and Feast-day Liturgies.

  3. Parishioners are given preferential notice of a fund raising 5 course sit down dinner cooked and served by the priests of our parish and Archdiocese offices. Formal dress and entry passes will be required. Seating and serving capacity is limited to 160 persons. To obtain entry passes on first come basis, please contact your community animators latest by Monday 20th November.

  4. The next issue of the Holy Name Record is scheduled for the first week of December 2017. Anyone interested in advertising, may please send their advertisement matter to the parish office latest by Saturday25th November.

  1. Next week, on All Saints day, 1st November, and All Souls Day, 2nd November, all masses will be as per the usual Wednesday and Thursday schedules.

  2. On 3rd November, First Friday, there will be a Holy Half hour in Konkani after the 5.30 p.m. mass and after the 6.30 p.m. mass there will be Bible Program, conducted by Fr. Michael D’ Cunha.

  3. St. Padre Pio’s mass will be on Saturday 4th Nov,’17 at 4.00 p.m. in the Holy Name School Conference Room on the 1st floor.

  4. The Bombay Intercessory Network will be having the NIGHT VIGIL on 4th November. 2017 from 10.30 p.m. to 5.00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Vile Parle, with Eucharist.

  5. Senior Citizens will meet on Sunday 5th Nov’17, after the 10.00 a.m. mass in the Holy Name School Hall.

  6. Parishioners are given advance notice to reserve Thursdays 9th and 23rd November; 7th and 14th December from 7-8.15 pm for the “Theology from the Pews” Interactive Talks in the Holy Name High School Hall. Interesting Topics and Speakers will make it worth your time as well as benefit your faith.

  7. The Charismatic team will be having their next JESUS ENCOUNTER HEALING RETREAT from Friday 10th November at 7:30 am to Sunday 12th November 2017 at 5.00 pm. at Vinalaya Retreat Center Andheri (E) Mumbai. Contact your Parish prayer group leader/core team.

  8. Those who wish to offer Masses for their dear ones on all Souls Day, may drop an envelope with their intentions and contribution in the white box near the alter rail.

  1. As we observe Mission Sunday, our parish SCC communities have set up stalls in the School Hall as usual offering tasty home cooked snacks and food. The proceeds will go to the Missions as our parish contribution besides collections. You are urged to patronize the mission stalls after all Sunday masses beginning with the 7.30 am mass.

  2. The Mission Sunday Rally organized by the CCR at Rosary Church, Mazagaon, is tomorrow/today from 4 pm onwards. Details are on their banner. Their next Healing Retreat at Andheri East is from 10th to 14th November. All are invited.

  3. Fr. Michael D’Cunha will conduct a two session overview of the Bible in the Cathedral on 27th October and 3rd November, after the 6.30 pm mass. It introduces our Bible Program planned for Sundays in the coming Advent season. Please invite your friends and attend in large numbers.

  4.   1. The Caregivers Group will have their meeting on Monday 16th October, after the evening Mass in the Parish parlour.

  2. The CCR South zone has organized a Mission Sunday Rally on Sunday 22nd October 2017 at Rosary Church, Mazagaon, from 4 pm onwards. It includes Mass. The Guest speaker is Fr. Anthony J. Fernandes. All are invited. Program details on the banner in the compound.

  3. A two session overview of the Bible will be conducted by Fr. Michael D’Cunha on 27th October and 3rd November, in the Cathedral after the 6.30 pm mass. It introduces our Bible Program planned for Sundays in Advent Parishioners are encouraged to attend in great numbers and also invite friends

  4. The RJM sisters inaugurated the bicentennial anniversary of the founding of their congregation on 6th October with a special Mass in Agra, their first mission in India. On 13th November there will be special masses in St Anne’s School and in the Cathedral. We appreciate the dedicated services the RJM Sisters have rendered in our parish since 1905 and pray for them.

  1. The Holy Name Record September issue copies are placed at the Church doors this weekend. Please collect one copy per family.

  2. All Senior Citizen parishioners are reminded of the program on Sunday 1st October, from 11am to 2 pm in the Holy Name School Hall. It will begin with Fr. Harry’s short talk on enjoying Sunset Years followed by lively sing along and dance session led by Kim Cardoz, fun games and a Biryani lunch. Please register this weekend at the desk or at the office on weekdays with a token payment of Rs 30.

  3. October 2nd will be observed as Intercession Day. Special intentions for intercessory hours from 8 am till 8 pm will be prayed for in the parish Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The list is on the Notice Board. Please cooperate with this initiative of the Prayer Group

  4. All Youth of our parish and of the South Mumbai deanery are invited to a fellowship day on 15th October from 11 am to 1 pm at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Colaba.

  1. From Wednesday 30th August at the 6.30 pm evening mass, we begin a very creative and interesting Novena for children and families in preparation for Our Lady’s Feast. The Perpetual Succour Novena Prayer will be after mass. On Sunday 3rd September, the Novena service will be at the 8.30 am morning mass. Children, parents and all parishioners are urged to participate in large numbers.

    1. On 1st Sept’ First Friday, there will be No Holy half hour in Konkani and English after the 5.30 & 6.30 pm. masses.

    2. St. Padre Pio’s mass will be on Saturday 2nd Sept’17, at 4.00 p.m. in the Holy Name School Conference Room on the 1st floor.

    3. The Parish Pastoral Council meeting is postponed from 4th Sept to 11th in view of the Noveana Services

Announcement for 19th and 20th august

  1. The Parish Novena in preparation for the Feast to the Nativity on 8th September will be an interesting and beneficial one to children and families. Please reserve the 6.30 pm evening mass from Wednesday 30th August on Weekdays and the 8.30 am mass on Sunday 3rd September. You are urged to participate in large numbers.

  2. The Youth of the Parish and all who are young at heart and yearn to fulfill a dream project are reminded to register online. Please refer to the Notice Board for the requirements.

  3. On 25th August, Fr. Gerard Rodricks, S. J. will conduct a one-day programme of discourses and Meditation, organized by the Community for Christian Meditation. Participation is open to all. Details on the poster.

  1. Tomorrow/Today, Transfiguration Sunday is also celebrated as Vianney Day in our Archdiocese to pray for and felicitate Diocesan Priests. The 6.30 pm special mass will be followed by a felicitation program in the School Hall. Please participate as a manifestation of your appreciation.

  2. The Parish Pastoral Council, will meet on Monday 7th August, after the evening mass in the parlour.

  3. The Archdiocese Bible Committee has organized a Bible Cell members’ seminar on 12th August from 5-8 pm and a Short Term Course on the New Testament on five Bank Holiday Weekends.

1 Hearty thanks to all members of our Parish Youth Group inspired and led by Fr Nigel and Sandra for the Parents Day program last Sunday, and also to Mr Kim & Loraine Cardoz for the special guest performance, to the children and youth performers, their trainers and to all who participated and played in various roles ways to make the program enjoyable for all.

  1. Tomorrow after the 10 am mass is the Volleyball match and badminton tournament in the School premises. Please join in to watch and cheer the Parents versus Youth contestants.

  2. Monday, 31st July, is the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.

  3. On 4th August, First Friday, there will be a Holy half hour in Konkani after the 5.30 pm. mass and a Holy Hour in English after the 6.30 pm. mass. On Saturday 5th the St. Padre Pio’s mass at 4.00 p.m. will be in the Holy Name School 1st floor Conference Room. ?

  4. Next Sunday 6th August we celebrate Vianney Sunday with a special mass at 6.30 pm followed by a free entry program in the School Hall to felicitate the Parish and Archbishop’s House clergy organized by the Parish Council. The Senior Citizen’s meeting has been postponed to Sunday 13th August, after the 10.00 a.m. Mass.

  3. Sunday school, and first Holy Communion classes will start from Sunday June 18th after the 8:30 am Mass. Parents are reminded of their responsibility to bring their children to Sunday School. [n.b. please don’t announce at 10 am Mass & Sunday evening]
  4. Confirmation classes will start from Sunday 18th June after the 8:30 am mass in the first floor conference room. All those who have appeared for their SSC exams or who are over 16 years old are eligible. Candidates should bring a copy of their baptism certificate to the class. [n.b. please don’t announce at 10 am Mass & Sunday evening]
  5. The Extra Ordinary Ministers of the Eucharistic will renew their commitment to carry Christ to the sick and house bound. This service will be a part of the 10 am service on Sunday 18th June which is the feast of Corpus Christi. We request all Eucharistic Ministers to be present for an hour of Prayer and reflection on Saturday 17th June at 7:30 pm. [n.b. please don’t announce at 10 am Mass & Sunday evening]
  6. We would like parishioners to volunteer to teach the faith at Sunday School and Confirmation. Those interested should get in touch with Fr. Nigel.
  7. The Cathedral Choir has reassembled after its May vacation and welcomes new members. You need not have any knowledge of music or prior exposure to choral singing.   1. Today is the feast of Pentecost, the birth of the Church. There will be a Pentecost rally at St. Michael’s Church Mahim today, Sunday 4th June from 4 pm to 8 pm. All are invited to attend and participate all.

  2. Senior Citizens meeting will be on 4th June, after the 10 a.m. Mass in the Holy Name School Hall. [n.b. please don’t announce – Sunday evening]

  3. Next Sunday is Trinity Sunday. We are reminded of our obligation to live out our communitarian spirituality.
  4. Sunday school, first holy communion classes will start from Sunday June 18th after the 8:30 am mass. Parents are reminded of their responsibility to bring their children to Sunday School.

1.Today is the feast of the Ascension and is also celebrated as World Communication Day in the Universal Church. We are invited by Pope Francis to “Communicate Hope and Trust in our Times”

  1. This Sunday there is a Basic Life Support and First Aid session in the school hall after the 9:00 am mass. This program will be a mix of a talk, demo and a power point presentation. This is open to all.

  2. There is will be a special modern dance and demo workshop entitled “Morden Dance with Sumit”. This will be on Sunday 28th May at 11:30 am in the School hall.

  3. The Novena to the Holy Spirit is prayed after communion at every mass. Next Sunday is the feast of Pentecost, the birth of the Church. There will be a Pentecost rally at St. Michael’s Church Mahim on Sunday 4th June from 4 pm to 8 pm. All are invited to attend and participate.

  4. The youth have organized a variety of games every evening. You are invited to join them for a game of throw ball, volley ball, badminton, table tennis and carom. Come join the youth and have an enjoyable evening.

  5. A needy school and college students book bank is being launched. All are encouraged to donate used text books, tution notes, half used notebooks, usable school bags. Please do bring these books to the Parish office from the 1st of June onward.

  6. The current Mass timings will remain the same till Sat 3rd June. We will revert back to the previous schedule from Sunday 4th June. So from Sunday 4th June we will have the 8.30 am mass and the 10 am mass. On week days from Monday 4th June, the daily morning mass will be at 6.30 am and 7.30 am.

  7. Admissions are open at St Andrew’s College, Bandra to Junior College – (Std X1 ) and Senior College ( First Year Degree ) Details are on the notice board.

  8. Worldwide Marriage Encounter invites all couples to a 2-day Week-end experience that will give them an opportunity to focus on their relationship with each other, God and Family. This program will be held at Sarvodhya Goregaon Seminary Compound on Sat 3rd June n Sun 4thJune. See the poster for details.

  9. Fr. Navin Mendonca who was serving in the Cathedral of the Holy Name as an assistant has been transferred to be in residence at St. Josephs, RC Church Colaba. We thank him for all that he has done in his pastoral ministry at the Cathedral and wish him all the very best as he takes up his new appointment.

1) Tomorrow/Today, 21st May, at 11 am, the Youth of the parish have organized Telegames in the Holy Name School Compound. This is an event of Fun for the Family – and all are welcome.

2) Tomorrow/Today, 21st May, at 10 am, the free Dance Demo and DIY for children titled Dance with Dorothy will be held in the Holy Name School Hall. There are limited registrations, so enroll before 9:00 am on Sunday.

3) Next Sunday 28th May we have a Basic Life Support and First Aid session in the school hall after the 9:00 am mass. This program will be a mix of a talk, demo and a power point presentation. This is open to all.

1) All are reminded of a change in the morning mass timings during the month of May: On Sundays, the 8.30 and 10 am masses will be suspended. Their intentions are transferred to one combined mass at 9 am. On weekdays, one morning mass at 7 am will combine intentions of the suspended 6.30 and 7.30 am masses. All other morning afternoon and evening mass timings continue as per the usual schedule. See the Notice Board.

2) Only to be announced on Sat 13th May "There will be a Special Rosary recited with Candle light after the 6.30pm evening Mass today being the Centenary Year of Our Lady’s appearance at Fatima in Portugal at the Grotto of Our Lady of Fatima. Please come to pray the Rosary."

6) Fr. Harry Vaz the Rector is on leave in his absence Fr. Nigel Barrett will be the acting rector.

Mrs. Prima D’Souza’s Make for Mommy greeting card workshop 5-9 years olds session. Registrations are full to capacity. No new registrations are possible.

4) Next Sunday 14th May, the free Art and Craft Workshop for children aged 5-12 yrs will be conducted by Mrs. Vanessa Ryan in the School hall after the 9 am mass. Tomorrow/Today by 7th May is the last day for registrations.

5) Rosary will be recited before statue of Our Lady in the Cathedral House porch, during the month of May, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, after the evening mass. On Saturday 13th May, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, a special rosary after the 6.30 p.m. mass.

6) A needy school and college students Book bank is being launched. All are encouraged to donate used text books, tuitions notes, half used notebooks, usable school bags. Please keep these ready. We will inform you the days and timings when they can be brought to the parish office.

7) S.V.P. is having a Jumble Sale on 9th & 10th May, from 9.00 a.m. 2.00 p.m. in the Holy Name School Hall. Volunteers are needed. Kindly contact S.V.P. members Henry or Indira.

8) The Divine Child Polytechnic offers a range of Degree and Diploma Courses such as Computer Applications, Hospitality and Tourism, Fashion Design and Garment making, Foreign Languages etc. Those interested please see the Notice Board.

Announcements (22nd/23rdApril 2017)

  1. On the Feast of Divine Mercy, we pray that God’s compassionate love and forgiveness fill our hearts and lives.
  2. The Care-givers Group will meet on Monday 24th April, after the evening Mass in the Parlour.
  3. From 7th to 28th May the Sunday Morning Mass Timings will follow the Holiday Schedule with one mass reduced: A mass 9.00 a.m. will replace the usual 8.30 a.m. & 10.00 a.m. masses. The Sunday evening and weekday mass timings remain unchanged
  4. All are reminded of our parish Summer-holiday Film Club with quizzes, Housie, a Book Library and some Sunday morning special programs. These will enable families to have quality fun-time together. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. Those who wish to donate old novels and other books of interest for the holiday library please bring them to the school from 26-30th April and hand them to Christabelle.
  5. A parish life-passion dream project competition will be launched in June-July 2017. Its noble objective is to incentivize and support youth over 18 in particular and all who are young in spirit to develop their God given talents and life passion in a planned achievable manner. Those interested please use the holiday season to envision and draft your plan.
  6. A Youth Night Vigil will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Vile Parle on 6th May, from 10.30 p.m. and conclude with a Mass at 5.00 a.m.
  7. The Focolare Movement will hold its Mariapolis summer holiday program for families from 25th to 28th May at the Papal Seminary in Pune. Please see the Notice Board for further details.
